Nine in the Third Place (九三)

"There is no plain that does not turn into a slope. There is no going that does not return. In difficulty, perseverance is without blame. Do not bemoan this truth; enjoy the good fortune you still have."

"The wall falls back into the moat. Do not use an army. Announce your commands from your own town. Perseverance brings humiliation."
The period of peace has ended. The structure of harmony is collapsing. Trying to use force to restore the old order is futile and will lead to ruin. It is time to accept the change, retreat, and manage the decline gracefully. To cling to the past now brings humiliation.
