How to Use This Tool

  1. Upload Your Floor Plan: Click the "Upload Floor Plan" button and select an image of your home's layout from your device.
  2. Align the Bagua Map: Once the image is uploaded, a translucent Bagua map will appear on the canvas.
    • Drag: Click and drag the Bagua map to move it.
    • Scale: Use your mouse wheel or a two-finger pinch gesture on mobile to resize it.
    • Rotate: Click the anchor point on the corner to rotate the map for a perfect fit.
  3. The Core Alignment Principle: This is the most important step! You must align the bottom edge of the Bagua map (the row containing "Knowledge," "Career," and "Helpful People") with the wall containing your home's main entrance door. It doesn't matter if your door is on the left, center, or right of that wall; the entire bottom edge of the map should align with that wall.
  4. Adjust Opacity: Use the "Opacity" slider to make the Bagua map more or less transparent, ensuring you can clearly see the floor plan underneath.
  5. Analyze Areas: Once aligned, click on any of the nine squares to open a pop-up with detailed information about that life area.
  6. Download Your Layout: When you're satisfied with the result, click "Download Layout" to save the combined image of your floor plan and the Bagua map as a JPG file.

Beginner's Guide to Feng Shui Concepts

What is the BTB Bagua Map?

The Bagua is the energy map of your space in Feng Shui. This tool uses the popular "Black Hat Sect" (BTB) method, which is favored in modern Western Feng Shui. It simplifies the traditional compass method by not relying on literal directions (North, South, East, West). Instead, it orients the map based on the location of your main door and directly links areas of your home to specific areas of your life.

By overlaying this 3x3 grid on your floor plan, you can see which parts of your home correspond to core life areas like wealth, health, love, and career. Understanding this relationship allows you to intentionally adjust your environment to improve the energy flow, attract positive "Chi," and enhance your overall well-being.

Understanding Chi (or Qi)

Chi is the invisible life force energy that flows through everything in the universe, including our homes and our bodies. The goal of Feng Shui is to encourage the healthy and vibrant flow of positive Chi. When Chi is blocked or stagnant (often caused by clutter, poor layout, or dirt), it can lead to feelings of being stuck or a lack of vitality in corresponding life areas. When it flows smoothly, it brings nourishment, opportunity, and success.

The Five Elements

The Five Elements are a cornerstone of Feng Shui, representing different phases of energy. Each Bagua area is associated with an element. Achieving balance means ensuring these elements are present and interact harmoniously. The elements are:

  • Wood: Represents growth, vitality, creativity, and expansion.
  • Fire: Represents passion, transformation, recognition, and high energy.
  • Earth: Represents stability, nourishment, grounding, and self-care.
  • Metal: Represents precision, logic, clarity, joy, and efficiency.
  • Water: Represents flow, wisdom, career path, and social connections.

These elements support each other in a "Productive Cycle" (e.g., Water nourishes Wood, Wood fuels Fire, Fire creates Earth, etc.). The suggestions for each area often involve adding the area's native element or a supporting element to enhance its energy.

Practical First Steps for Beginners

  1. Declutter Everything: The single most powerful Feng Shui adjustment is decluttering. Clutter represents stagnant energy and blocks the flow of opportunities. Before adding any "cures," clear out anything you don't use, love, or need.
  2. Start with One Area: Don't try to "fix" your whole house at once. Use the tool to identify one or two areas of your life you'd most like to improve. Focus your energy and intention there first.
  3. Set a Clear Intention: As you make changes (like adding a plant to your Wealth corner), do it with a clear intention. For example, think "This plant represents my growing prosperity." Your intention infuses the object with purpose and energy.
  4. Cleanliness is Key: A clean home invites positive Chi. Pay special attention to windows (the "eyes" of the home) and the front door (the "mouth of Chi").
  5. Trust Your Intuition: While these are established principles, Feng Shui is also deeply personal. If a suggestion doesn't feel right to you, don't do it. Your home should be a reflection of you and feel good *to you*.
